I have worked in assessment, education and support with families since 1981. I have learnt and believe that there is one certainty in life and that is constant change. Unexpected or unwanted change can make life difficult and leave you feeling overwhelmed unable to see things clearly or find a way forward. Taking time out for yourself to talk with me can help you to make sense of your difficulties, enabling you to see more clearly and give you confidence to make positive changes in your life and reach your goals.
I place value on nurturing the development of a positive, professional, therapeutic relationship as I believe this will create a strong foundation for effective and rewarding and meaningful therapy.
I am a qualified systemic psychotherapist. I have a Master of Science in Family and Couples Systemic Therapy and registered with the Association of Family Therapy and with United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy. I am fully insured and hold myself to the highest ethical standards and engage in continuous professional development.
During study for my MSc at the Institute of Family Therapy in London. I chose in year two to specialise in Child Focused Practice. In Years three and four, my clinical working placement was at The Prudence Skynner Family and Couples Therapy Clinic. The clinic was placed within the St Georges Mental Health NHS Trust in London. Here I gained invaluable systemic skills in couples and family psychotherapy.
My skills as a family therapist have been shaped from the 25 years of experiences I have gained in specialised work with children and families in the NHS, Education and Children Services. I have held a wide range of professional roles including Early Years teacher, Play Therapist at Charing Cross Hospital, Head of Department of Early Years at BCA College, Buckinghamshire Schools Parenting Support Team Manager and Lead Practitioner for Mental Health supporting families and children for Buckinghamshire County Council.
My systemic practice consists of a multi systemic approaches, which I sensitively adapt to match the client’s individual preference and needs.
